Est.2014, ABS exists as a space between land and sea for the development of contemporary artists, researchers and collaborators. A flagship venue for independent arts activity in Blackpool that has since influenced a growing ecology and strategic approach to the progression of arts and culture on the northern coastline/s.

Our vision is rooted in developing experimental and inclusive conditions for artists to have periods of time, space, and money to progress new work and new thinking. ABS hosts and holds space for risk-taking behaviour in the UK's leading resort.

For TMC 2024, ABS is celebrating its tenth year. Our artists list reflects our studio members, associate members and new connections. All our artist this year are north-west based, working class, and with national and international portfolios.

ABS Stand 228 is supported in partnership with Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool, also presenting works by Chloe McFarlane on STAND 221 as 'The pARTnership'.

ABS will take 30% commission of sales which will continue to support our ability to provide fair pay opportunities for the development of artists, as well as vital match funding to continue to sustain and progress relationships with artists, curators, gallerists, and commissioners locally, regionally and internationally.
