Isobel Shore (b. 1999, Liverpool, UK) lives and works in Manchester, UK. She studied at Apollo Painting School (2024) Recent exhibitions include ‘In Redidenza, In Transito’ Museo Cambellotti, Latina, Italy (2024); ‘The Manchester Open 2024’, HOME, Manchester UK (2024)

Shore’s practice is rooted in oil painting, a slow and captivating medium that inspires a deliberate presence within a modern, fast paced world. She explores the phycological within intimate portraits,  reflecting ambiguous and complex emotional states. Shore captures subtle expressions that invite questions of a subject’s inner world. Deeply influenced by personal grief, her work reflects on themes of loss, connection, and human complexity, often finding inspiration in moments of stillness.

Through both figurative and still-life compositions, Shore examines how the qualities of paint, light, texture and colour interact to convey feeling. Her paintings invite close inspection, where the nuances of optically mixed colour reveal moments of poetic truth and abstraction within the representative. Ultimately, her artistic journey is an ongoing exploration of painting and translating complexities of emotion into tangible form.
