'Gobstopper, Comfy Jeans'

Abingdon Studios Project Space Stand: 228

Gratrix adopts a self-imposed rule of 'nine inches apart, together, away, repeat', across the surfaces, objects and spaces that they construct it intervene in.

Gobstoppy, Comfy Jeans (2024) is one of a series of Chaise-like sculptural forms. Taking the ergonomic and measured precision of a Tantric Chaise- designed for optimum sexual pleasure between people; yet affecting it with their own imposed rules. Creating a queered object and experience that speaks to the artists coastal lived experience and broader interests in rest, play, pleasure and experimentation.

Influenced by a search for rest and a horizontal change in pace the objects Gratrix creates provide a literal and metaphorical invitation to holiday , resort, or world differently for a moment.
